The city of San Salvador is
surprisingly cosmopolitan, enjoying all the
modern amenities that the visitor will be
accustomed to back home. This is partly due
to the fact that the city was destroyed
during a massive earthquake back in 1854.
Colonial buildings are rather sparse. What
you will find here are tree lined avenues
boasting luxury shops, fine restaurants and
luxury hotels. There are also many
fascinating museums to explore and the
beaches of the Pacific Ocean are a mere 30
min away.
