Great Exuma is part of the chain of 365 islands that form the Bahamas and, with the many other cays, offers an amazing variety of vacation possibilities. The islands are a popular spot for yachting, sailing, diving, and coral reef and cave exploring.

The capital of the Exumas, George Town, has a colorful history. Shopping, marinas, restaurants and a few bars are the main attractions. There are remains of cotton plantations all over the islands. Many of the unnamed beaches and coves of the islands, including extensive offshore reef areas, are included in the protected Exuma National Land and Sea Park of the Bahamas National Trust.
