Entry Requirements
A valid Canadian passport is required for Canadians
intending to visit Puerto Rico. The passport should be valid
for at least the expected duration of stay in the country.
For all other nationalities, consult your consulate or
tourist board for details. You can also visit
www.voyage.gc.ca for up-to-date information.

Airport check-in
It is recommended that you present yourself at the airport
counter of the airline indicated on your voucher 3 hours
prior to departure. Air Canada or Air Canada Vacations
representatives will be available starting at 5 a.m.
At the airport
An Air Canada Vacations or our ground representative will
meet you and assist you with ground transportation once you
have gone through immigration and customs. Please proceed
directly outside where our representatives are waiting.
Transfer
For passengers having purchased a complete holiday package,
The Air Canada Vacations representative will guide you to
your bus or taxi for the transfer to your accommodation. Air
only passengers must arrange their own transfers by taxi or
bus.
Hotel check-in
Upon arrival at your hotel, please identify yourself at the
front desk with your Air Canada Vacations voucher. You will
then be assigned your accommodation. Most hotel check-in
times are between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. It is recommended to
pack essential items in your carry on luggage.

Sightseeing
Optional excursions are a great way to enhance your Air
Canada Vacations holiday. Choose from a wide variety of
activities and excursions available at your destination. For

Handler Partner.
Shopping
Most shops are open from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM or later on some
evenings. Rum products are popular and well priced.
Currency
The official currency used in Puerto Rico is the US Dollar.
Banking
Banks are generally open from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm Mon-Fri.
Some banks open on Saturdays until at least lunchtime. There
are several major chains and branches of all banks and ATM’s
are available throughout the country. Major credit cards are
very widely accepted.
Long distance calls
Phone cards are available from post offices and stores.
Please note if placing a call from your hotel room
additional service charges apply. Become familiar with these
charges before placing the call, using a pay phone in the
hotel lobby avoids these additional charges.
Water
Tap water is not recommended to drink, bottled water is a
better choice. Water served in hotel bars and restaurants is
safe to drink.
Tipping
Most hotel and restaurant bills include a service charge.
Make sure you check the bill to avoid tipping twice. Where a
service charge is not included in a restaurant, or for a
taxi driver, tour guide or other service provider, it is
customary to leave a tip of 10%-15% of the bill.

110V, same as Canada
Language
Spanish. English is widely spoken throughout the country.
Departure information
The day before you leave and the day of departure, remember
to consult the Air Canada Vacations bulletin board or binder
in your hotel for details on your departure procedures and
return flight. Should there be a flight change, information
would be posted in the bulletin board/binder the day of
departure.
Hotel check out
Hotel check out times may vary depending on the property but
generally you must vacate the room by 12 p.m. (noon).
Duty-free shopping
After an absence of 7 days or more, Canadian residents are
permitted to return with a maximum of CAD $750 of
merchandise per trip without paying duty. Each time you
leave Canada for at least 48 hours, you are eligible to
declare up to CAD $200 of merchandise. A written declaration
may be requested. Each adult is allowed 1.1 litres (40 oz.)
of liquor, 200 cigarettes, 50 cigars or cigarillos, 200
tobacco sticks and 200 grams (7 oz.) of manufactured
tobacco. To calculate the number of days absent, do not
count the day you left Canada but include the day you
return. If you include cigarettes, tobacco sticks and loose
tobacco in your personal exemption allowance, only a partial
exemption will apply. You will have to pay a minimum duty on
these products unless they are marked “Canada-Duty paid”.

marked this way.
